Chattanooga,TN, May 15, 2018— Shayne Champion, Conversant Group’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), has recently been selected by the ILTA LegalSEC board to take sit on a three-member panel on reducing the impact of data security and governance risks for the legal community.
This session will address ways to avoid data maintenance and destruction pitfalls such as the governance and security impact of excessive data retention, risks involved with establishing a retention policy across multiple jurisdictions, consequences of failing to follow your retention policy, issues with responding to client data stewardship requirements, as well as compliance with data destruction orders and certification. The panel will discuss how these risks can be exacerbated by discovery requests, exposure to state-sponsored actions (e.g., border checks, seizures), and usage of alternate data stores (e.g., cloud technologies, SMS and chat). The planned take-away from this session is a clearer understanding of how these risks impact your bottom line and how to use that knowledge to enforce compliance.
With Shayne’s extensive background in managing information security programs for large organizations, it will give him an opportunity to speak to organizations large and small about how to reduce the impact of risk. Shayne also has experience as both an auditor as well as an auditee, giving him a unique “insider” perspective on protecting data.
