Bio:

I live in East Tennessee [where I was born] with my wife, son, and daughter. Yes, I’m a suffering Tennessee Volunteer fan.

After a couple of years of trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, I went to a local community college and got my associate degree in Computer Science. During that time, I interned at ABB Environmental Systems. While at ABB Environmental Systems, I built a relationship that resulted in a help desk position with Associate Housing Finance. In the twenty years to follow, I worked my way up to system administrator and ultimately, an IT Director before coming to Conversant Group.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. Both my children are musicians. My son and I play regularly at our church, so music lessons and practices keep us on the move. I also enjoy helping at my church by mixing the sound for church services and events. During football season, my wife would tell you that my other hobby borders on obsession, as I am an avid fantasy football player.

Role:

Our Managed Services mission is, “To manage infrastructure for clients we have an agreement with for a secure, dependable user experience.” I am the Director of Managed Services, and my role is to ensure we are achieving that mission.

When I take on something in my life, I’m committed to doing whatever it is to become the best. There are times I will stay up late or wake up in the middle of the night with a thought on how we can improve. That passion, I believe, drives me as Director of Managed Services, because I am committed to helping lead the best Managed Services group possible. I do not want us to just survive; I want our joint team [all stakeholders: Clients, Manufacturers, Our Staff, and Conversant Group] to thrive.

When we take on a managed client, we have oneness in our relationship with each other: we are no longer two separate companies, partnership. I view this as a key differentiator with Conversant Group. Our managed services are not sold as a replacement of internal IT, as Conversant Group has a fundamental view that user support, application configuration, application support, and training must be close to the end users. Thus, our managed services are always marketed and managed as a partnership with the client and internal IT. My goal is to help internal IT [in whatever capacity] and the client succeed; we align our objectives to the goals of the client.

Relationships are only as strong as the communication between the two entities. I feel one strength is communication. I strive to communicate to our joint team in a professional, consistent, timely manner. I want to make sure everyone knows where things stand when there’s an issue and our next steps.

I’m blessed in that I have a great group of talented engineers that I help lead. I truly believe that with our team there is no problem too big or challenge too great.
